SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA!

The place where the city meets the sea. The busy streets, the huge skyscrapers, the glorious landmarks, the friendly locals, the thousands of tourists, the list goes on and on. You name it, Sydney is sure to have it. Living only a two and a half hour drive away, this was the place to be (especially when I was younger). We’d always take day trips to the Zoo and other surrounding areas as well as school excursions to the popular tourist destinations like the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. However, nowadays for me, Sydney is a place to do some shopping and to relax of the famous Bondi Beach.

BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN SYDNEY:

Sydney is full of incredible landmarks. Yes, they may be over crowd with eager tourists but hey, when you’re in Sydney, they are a must! Here are my top 10 places to visit whilst in the city.

1. Sydney Opera House – Definitely one of the most famous landmarks. Most people would only know it for the perfectly sculpted ‘shells’, but it’s also a performing arts centre and features many restaurants, bars and even retail shops.

2. Sydney Harbour Bridge – Also known as ‘The Coathanger’, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is the arches of the harbour. The dramatic view of the harbour including the Opera House can be seen from the top of the bridge via the bridge climb. It is a must do when you come to Sydney, something you’ll never regret.

3. Taronga Zoo – If you love animals, you’ll love Taronga Zoo. Located at Mosman, just a short ferry ride from Circular Quay, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the most exotic creatures including some of Australia’s natives. If you want to go that extra mile, book an encounter to get up close and personal with your favourite animal.

4. Bondi Beach – My favourite place to visit in Sydney. If you just want to relax on the beach, eat good food, go for a walk or take a dip in the ocean then this is the ultimate place.

5. Centre Point Tower – Located in Pitt Street Mall, in the heart of Sydney, Centre Point Tower is the tallest building in the city. Standing at 309 metres tall, you’ll see insane views from the observation deck and if you are feeling super adventurist, why not try the SkyWalk or even the 360 Bar and Dining Restaurant , where you’ll rotate 360 degrees while eating tasty cuisine such as crocodile sausages.

6. Darling Harbour – Darling Harbour is the spot for fun in Sydney. There are delicious restaurants to eat at, shops to spend all your money (haha), go watch a movie at the IMAX theatre, take photos with wax figures of celebrities at Madame Tussaud’s, see adorable Australian animals at Wildlife Sydney Zoo, walk under tanks full of sharks and dugongs at Sydney Aquarium or visit at night and see an amazing fireworks display.

7. Pitt Street Mall – If you are a shopaholic or in need of a little TLC, Pitt Street Mall is the place to be. One of the best places to shop in the city and if you are lucky, you may be greeted by some incredible buskers as you walk on by.

8. Luna Park – Feeling like a fun-filled day, visit Luna Park located at Milsons Point. It is free to enter, just pay for rides as you wish and of course you have to get a photo in front of the enormous smiling face.

9. Royal Botanic Gardens – With over 30 hectares of grassland, if you are a nature lover, you must visit the Royal Botanic Gardens. It is also the home of Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, the Conservatorium of Music and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

10. Hyde Park – Surrounded by the cities skyscrapers, Hyde Park is a beautiful place to relax an/or read a book. The park is also home to St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Australian Museum.

BONDI BEACH:

Almost four years ago was the first time I travelled to Bondi Beach. Just a short train and bus ride from the city centre, you’ll find yourself on the pristine one kilometre stretch of sand located on Campbell Parade between Ben Buckler Point and Bondi Icebergs Club. Each year thousands upon thousands of tourists flock to the beach to soak up the amazing Australia weather and to check out the spunky world famous Bondi Lifeguards (cause let’s be real, this is the real reason I originally started travelling to Bondi!!)

WHAT TO DO IN BONDI:

Hotel Bondi is my favourite place to stay at the beach. Yes it is a pub, but it has the most welcoming staff, brilliant food, reasonably priced and to top it off, it has been newly renovated so it’s in top condition.

Obviously the best thing to do while in Bondi is to have a swim in the crystal clear water but going for a casual stroll along the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk is one of my absolute favourites. The view from the top of the cliffs looking down on the beaches is one you’ll need the camera for!

There are so many amazing places to eat while at Bondi. If you’re into seafood, North Bondi Fish is for you. From the regular fish and chips, to delicate lobster and squid, it’s one everyone must check out. However, if you are more a burger and fries, sipping a cocktail while looking over the beach type of person, then Moo Burger is definitely a better choice. My favourite is the veggie burger with sweet potato fries.

Just to show you how much fun the beach is, I have left video links below to two of my Bondi vlogs.

WHY VISIT SYDNEY:

Sydney is one of the most energetic fast paced cities in the world. It’s so vibrant and full of life. There is so much to do and see and you’ll be wishing you had more time!

So there you have it! My favourite city (in Australia) in a nutshell. I hope this was somewhat helpful or even inspired you to make the journey to this wonderful city. Please feel free to comment and share your favourite experiences/adventures in Sydney!!

Always remember, ‘Do something today that your future self will thank you for!’
